After Care

Post-Massage/Self-care Tips

The benefits of massage can satisfy both physical and emotional needs. It can be very frustrating feeling your tension return the moment you step outside the treatment room.

Take steps to make that post-massage feeling last as long as possible.

Post-massage/Self-care tips:

1. Take it easy afterwards. Don't go do any strenuous activity like a hard workout that will shorten the results of your massage.

2. Drink LOTS of water! Water will flush out the toxins that were loosened out of your muscles and get them out of your system. Water, water, water!

3. If certain areas of your body were really worked to get knots out, you may want to ice that area for 15 minutes or so.

4. Expect that you may be sore for 1-2 days after your massage. It is normal.

5. How to help the soreness: stretches and heat, and drink plenty of water. You will feel wonderful after those few days of soreness.

6. Make massage a regular part of your life. Monthly is ideal to keep your muscles from getting too stressed for too long before chronic pain sets in. But that may not be doable for everyone, so maybe quarterly or several times a year. Massage is like oil changes for your car - it keeps YOU running right!
